Songbird, Opensource Music Player

E' finalmente arrivato da poco alla prima build definitiva Songbird, un music player (e molto altro) open source, che prende degli spunti interessanti anche dal browser firefox (integrando il motore di rendering Gecko) e che si propone come alternativa ad altri attualmente blasonati player, tra i quali anche iTunes, del quale potrebbe per naura insidiare la posizione di dominanza su pc Windows e Linux-based.

Disponibile come mozilla Firefox in numerose lingue e (grazie all'utilizzo di XUL e altre features passate dal browser del panda rosso) completamente customizzabile con una serie di ottime estensioni e skin.

Media Importing

Add media to Songbird by importing from your file system or iTunes.

dai tempi di xmms stimo molto di più questi programmini opensource rispetto al mio classico winamp (che ogni 5 minuti rogna per aggoirnarsi).. e poi le fetures che vogliono implementare me gustano molto..

nono c'è un plugin apposta per l'iPod!

cmq, io l'ho provato ma credo tornerò ad utilizzarlo fra qualche patch perchè al momento è troppo lento per i miei gusti... però promette davvero bene!

io spero riescano a integrare direttamente nel programma l'interfaccia ipod con le prossime build

non appena riescono a fare anche gli update dei firmware e i ripristini do un lancio ad itunes che se lo ricorda :asd:

daniele che ci puoi dire della funzione di sincronizzazione con l'ipod? trova anche le copertine degli album su amazon per esempio o su degli online store?

Per quanto riguarda il resto non so se scarica automaticamente le copertine perchè la mia libreria di iTunes che ho importato in Songbird aveva già tutte le cover al loro posto, però, per quanto posso leggere nella homepage del sito, il supporto a questa funzione è ancora in beta:

Comunque, a parte tutto, sembra un ottimo player, la realizzazione open source è giustissima e il supporto ai numerosi plugin potrebbe essere davvero un'arma vincente nella "lotta" con gli altri player musicali. Di sicuro Songbird mostra qualche problemino di gioventù, ma son sicuro che con i prossimi aggiornamenti si avranno degli ottimi miglioramenti.

Molto belli, penso che aspetterò ancora qualche tempo perchè queste feature vengano testate a fondo e poi darò un bel lancio ad iTunes

l'unico problema è che probabilmente non sarà possibile fare update software o ripristinare (cosa che mi è capitata di fare ben 2 volte da 6 mesi a oggi..tanto per dire la stabilità apple :doh:)
