Per quanto riguarda il resto non so se scarica automaticamente le copertine perchè la mia libreria di iTunes che ho importato in Songbird aveva già tutte le cover al loro posto, però, per quanto posso leggere nella homepage del sito, il supporto a questa funzione è ancora in beta:
  • Album Artwork

    Display the currently playing track's album art and write new artwork back to the file. We still need to support album art fetching.
Comunque, a parte tutto, sembra un ottimo player, la realizzazione open source è giustissima e il supporto ai numerosi plugin potrebbe essere davvero un'arma vincente nella "lotta" con gli altri player musicali. Di sicuro Songbird mostra qualche problemino di gioventù, ma son sicuro che con i prossimi aggiornamenti si avranno degli ottimi miglioramenti.

LyricMaster is an add-on for Songbird that will:


  • Displays the lyrics a song has embedded through metadata.
  • Fetch the lyrics if the song contains no lyric metadata.
  • Give the user and option to search the web for lyrics if no appropriate lyrics are found.
  • Allow the user to edit the lyrics a song contains.
  • Fetch the lyrics for one or more songs at a time.
  • Displays an icon next to the track in the library if the track has lyrics.
  • A help dialog from within Songbird.
